The World Did Not Begin with Adam And Steve -- Somebody in Congress Finally States the Obvious

Our leaders are not incorruptible Christians, nor are our people, so I'm generally pretty pessimistic when it comes to democracy. For knowing society's weakness, the Devil manipulates our politicians and institutions to offend the glory of God, ensuring homosexuality, witchcraft -- pure Satanism, even -- can thrive and grow. But reading the transcript of thisdebate on the Gay Marriage Is Evil Amendment, suddenly my pessimism is little more hopeful. Some politicians, it seems, do recognize the duty we owe to the Lord and the righteousness of the Bible.

"It's part of God's plan for the future of mankind," explained Rep. John Carter (R-Tex.).

Rep. Bob Beauprez (R- Colo.) also found "the very hand of God" at work. "We best not be messing with His plan."

Rep. Mike Pence (R-Ind.) agreed that "it wasn't our idea, it was God's."

"I think God has spoken very clearly on this issue," said Rep. Phil Gingrey (R-Ga.), a mustachioed gynecologist who served as one of the floor leaders yesterday. When somebody quarreled with this notion, Gingrey replied: "I refer the gentleman to the Holy Scriptures."

Unfortunately, the amendment was defeated in both the Senate and the House, so there is much work to be done. However, it is undeniable that the last decade has brought a groundswell of Christian support and grassroots organization clamoring to bring this country back into the arms of God. With prayer and love for Jesus, it is only a matter of time before the sinners of America are condemned and rounded up to be introduced into the way of holy-ness. I ask now that you pray with me...

The Bible is not a reliable source of information about the beginning of the world. Even if it were, the first amendment makes all of the arguments you have quoted completely useless to government, which is one of several reasons why this proposal was and always will be shot down.

You know what? Why don't we scrap this democracy hogwash alltogether and have GOD appoint an absolute leader. We'll call him the fuhrer. We'll hold rallies to praise him and our most holy god, and we'll conquer all the heathens in preparation for the coming of our lord jesus! Great Idea huh?

... Yes the bible is a credible source for scientific info, because 5000-year old dead jews know better than modern scientists.

wrin -- the bible is indeed a reliable source of information. it is the word of God. you simply lack faith because you have been brought to the dark side of satan. also, you're argument shows a fundamental lack of understanding about the role of governments. governments must protect their people. while it is fine and dandy to say that the morals of people are their own business, it neglects the fact that immoral people harm all of society by corrupting children and creating an atmosphere of sin and filth that offends God and brings His wrath upon all of us. Furthermore, allowing sin to run rampant gradually erodes our faith in the bible. it is human nature to take the easy, pleasurable path, so we will trick ourselves into thinking that path is okay, when in fact leads straight to the gates of hell.

The Bible is not the word of God, despite how the preface reads. It is a work of men, and will always be so unless God decides to change it. How easily corrupted and fooled people are, that they should believe a piece of paper that reads "This is the word of God," with the only proof being that many other people believe it and will hurt you if you don't also.

Oh, and I've wanted to say this to you for a while now. If your God is as petty and full of wrath as you claim, then he is simply evil. I would...find it difficult to bend knee to such a creature.

wrin, led head -- i would say the reverse is true: how easily corruptible people are that they DO NOT believe the Bible is the Word of God. When Satan has not worked his claws into the minds of men, it is obvious that Bible is truth. As for your beligerence regarding God's "hate," you will feel differently when finally confronted by His wrath in the depths of Hell. and if you were not so filled with the love of the Devil, you would recognize the rightness of everything God does.

You're the one who loves Satan, Nathaniel. After all, if it weren't for Satan, you would have no weapon with which to try to force people into submission.

Your very figure is like a palm tree,
your breasts are like clusters.

I said: I will climb the palm tree,
I will take hold of its branches.
Now let your breasts be like clusters of the vine

Song 7:7-10

This is in your precious Old Testament. Explain, you godless heathens.

I've also wanted to say this for a long time: You are evil hypocrites who disappoint the God you love so much and it is you who are controlled by Satan, being used as radicals to turn people with good intentions away from the Lord, our God. I bet you believe the Holocaust was a good thing, don't you. I hope Mary, ever virgin, St. Joseph her spouse, and all the angels and saints pray for you, so that the Lord may remove your hearts (and brains)of stone, and give you hearts (and brains) of flesh.
