A Traditional Christian Church Hymn

A Traditional Christian Church Hymn

I recently was bemoaning the depravity in the world. When we take a hard look at how far from grace our society has fallen it is easy to become discouraged and disheartened. When we contemplate the sin that dominates the lives of all of those who are not living proper traditional Christian lives it is easy to want to turn our backs and forget about the rest of the world. However, we must not become discouraged. We must continue to fight the good fight! When I start to feel discouraged and disheartened by the sin and depravity in the world it helps for me sing one of my favorite church hymns from the mid-nineteenth century - Nearer, my God, to Thee. It is hymns like this that can help traditional Christian families get through the difficult times. All the Godless sinners can have their secular self-help psycho babble! As true Christians, the only thing we need are the blessings of the lord. By singing hymns like this and giving praise unto the Lord, we can rest assured that the blessings of the Lord will be with us always! Therefore, traditional Christian families: I give you the Hymn - Nearer, my God, to Thee!

Nearer, my God, to Thee,
Nearer to Thee!
E'en tho' it be a cross
That raiseth me;
Still all my song shall be---
Nearer, my God, to Thee,
Nearer, my God, to Thee,
Nearer to Thee!

CHORUS
Nearer, my God, to Thee,
Nearer to Thee!
E'en tho' it be a cross
That raiseth me;
Still all my song shall be---
Nearer, my God, to Thee,
Nearer, my God, to Thee,
Nearer to Thee!

2.
Tho' like the wanderer,
The sun goes down,
Darkness be over me,
My rest a stone;
Yet in my dreams
I'd be Nearer, my God, to Thee,
Nearer, my God, to Thee,
Nearer to Thee!

CHORUS
Tho' like the wanderer,
The sun goes down,
Darkness be over me,
My rest a stone;
Yet in my dreams
I'd be Nearer, my God, to Thee,
Nearer, my God, to Thee,
Nearer to Thee!

3.
There let my way appear,
Steps unto heaven;
All that Thou sendest me,
In mercy given;
Angels to beckon me
Nearer, my God, to Thee,
Nearer, my God, to Thee,
Nearer to Thee!

CHORUS
There let my way appear,
Steps unto heaven;
All that Thou sendest me,
In mercy given;
Angels to beckon me
Nearer, my God, to Thee,
Nearer, my God, to Thee,
Nearer to Thee!

4.
Then with my waking thoughts,
Bright with thy praise,
Out of my stony griefs,
Bethel I'll raise;
So by my woes[?] to be,
Nearer, my God, to Thee,
Nearer, my God, to Thee,
Nearer to Thee!

CHORUS
Then with my waking thoughts,
Bright with thy praise,
Out of my stony griefs,
Bethel I'll raise;
So by my woes[?] to be,
Nearer, my God, to Thee,
Nearer, my God, to Thee,
Nearer to Thee!

5.
And if on joyful wing,
Cleaving the sky,
Sun, moon, and stars forgot,
Upward I fly;
Still all my song shall be---
Nearer, my God, to Thee,
Nearer, my God, to Thee,
Nearer to Thee!

CHORUS
And if on joyful wing,
Cleaving the sky,
Sun, moon, and stars forgot,
Upward I fly;
Still all my song shall be---
Nearer, my God, to Thee,
Nearer, my God, to Thee,
Nearer to Thee!
